WHY SHOULD I WATERPROOF MY MASONRY?

THOUGHT WATERPROOFING IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR LIME MORTAR POINTED PERIOD BUILDINGS?
Traditionally, waterproofing methods were not used on properties with lime mortar pointing as the waterproof barrier prevents the natural ‘breathing’ of the lime mortar pointing, whereby the brick absorbs moisture and naturally relases it through the pointing. Blocking this natural ‘breathing action’ can be damaging to the brick work so was not utilised. But with Storm Dry, this is a thing of the past. This unique product is fully water-repellant, but also invisible and most importantly – breathable. This means that the lime mortar is still able to function as it should, but benefits from superior long-lasting protection from water and without compromising the appearance of your beautful brickwork.
